Port Renfrew Parks & Gardens
• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide to Parks & Gardens in Port Renfrew, BC, British Columbia.
The magnificent west coast of Vancouver Island between the Pacific Coast Mountains and the ocean has been made into a wonderful national park. The park is comprised of three parts, Long Beach, the West Coast Trail and the Broken Group of Islands. The long and wide sand beaches are spectacular as is the-old growth temperate rain forest.
Visitors can take a look at Canada's largest standing Douglas fir, located just outside of Port Renfrew. Accessible only by four wheel drive, it takes about half a day to drive from Port Renfrew to the tree.
This provincial park is a stunningly beautiful example of the Strait of Juan de Fuca's Pacific coastline. It offers spectacular hiking, home to the 47 km (29 mi) Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and the popular West Coast Trail, and marine and wildlife viewing. The 707 hectare park is home to the China Beach Campground, and Botanical Beach: an excellent tide pool viewing spot.
