Port Renfrew, BC at a Glance
Vancouver Island's Port
Renfrew is an isolated community located a two-hour drive from BC's
capital city, Victoria, on the
west coast of the Island. This coastal destination was once known only as a fishing
and forestry centre, but tourism has become increasingly popular as hiking enthusiasts
head to Port Renfrew for access to two of Canada's most famous trails. The Juan
De Fuca and West
Coast trails are Pacific West Coast nature is at its finest. Those who aren't
into multi-day hikes would also enjoy a trip here, where they can spend a day
kayaking, fishing, birdwatching or whalewatching. Botanical
Beach is a well-known spot for exploring the natural history of this diverse
landscape. But perhaps the most alluring aspect of a visit to Port Renfrew is
that this small community offers the chance to truly get away from it all amidst
this busy, industrialized world, and that in itself is priceless.
